EXHAUST:
When we designed and built this turbo kit we designed it as a direct fit kit using HPD's rear housing to suit Garretts core allowing us to run garret GT28 turbochargers for performance and reliability.
This HPD rear housing gives the ability to utilise the factory or aftermarket dump pipes, with the benefit to this it allows the owner to run most turbo GU aftermarket exhaust systems as a direct bolt on or even run the standard OEM the HPD direct fit rear housing also bolt straight onto the factory turbo manifold allowing for a perfect fitment.
INTERCOOLING:
Intercooling your turbo kit is important if you are looking to run more that 8-10psi of boost, however which intercooler to choose depends on a couple of things.
If you intend on towing a large load, live in a hot arid climate or decide to run a larger turbo option, then we suggest you should run our series 1 450 wide front mount intercooler, our series 2 top mount intercooler or extreme top mount intercooler as they are bigger and capable of a larger volume of air with a higher thermal efficiency operating at these more aggressive conditions.
Should you be looking to go from non-intercooled to intercooled and upgrading to a Garrett turbo and not looking to push your vehicle past 110-120kw mark and are running our standard turbo option, then a series 1 intercooler should be a good setup. Below is a link to the 5 intercoolers offered in this kit so you can make an informed decision on which combination is right for you.

TURBOS:
The turbocharger that is supplied as the base option for the GU TD42 direct fit turbo kit is the GTX2860r by Garrett.
We have found that this turbocharger compliments the characteristics of the 4.2ltr TD42 motor very well. Combining a fast spool rate with reliable power and substantial torque we feel like this option will satisfy those customers looking for the next level of power and better towing capability, highway speeds and general 4wd application.
Should you be looking for a little more power, torque and performance the next step up from Garretts GTX28/60r series is the new GTX28/67r Gen ii series. These turbos move some serious air speed and are capable of running from 20-30psi all day. Not only are they capable of higher boost application but they also spool up faster, hold boost longer and have a billet compressor wheel hidden inside. Another new feature is the added provision for a compressor wheel speed sensor and anti-surge slots meaning Better performance across the board.
PLEASE NOTE: SHOULD YOU DECIDE TO RUN A LARGER GTX TURBOCHARGER YOU WILL REQUIRE THE CORRECT SUPPORTING MODIFICATIONS TO SUPPORT THE ADDED DIESEL, LOAD AND POWER.
GTX2860 GEN ii This turbo option with series 2 intercooler and 3" exhaust system you can expect between 120-140kw (with supporting mods) on standard tyres.
GTX2867 GEN ii This turbo option with series 2 intercooler and 3" exhaust system you can expect between 150rwkw+ UP TO 200kw (with supporting mods) on standard tyres. Typical supporting mods are reco injectors, 11mm boost compensated pump and boost controllers. All of this can be supplied through request from HPD.
